The one absolutely unselfish friend that a man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog.

A man’s dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master’s side.

He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince.

When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the Heavens. ~

Senator George Best, 1870

Amen, you are talking about my friend Tucker. In addition to all of that he makes me laugh.

I felt that way about a little black mutt that found us. We had Toto for 17 years. I still miss him.

Dogs are mans best friend, they will do anything to be near them. My dog Roxie now five years old love me and wants to be near me all the time. I miss my other dogs who have been gone many years. Barney and Nicky. i always think of both of them.

Growing up, we had many dogs, inside and outside the home. I can remember crawling inside the dog house with them when I was about four years old.
I had my own “personal” dog when I was ten years old and still shed tears over her (I’m sixty-three) and the others that have since gone.
Those of us who love dogs share the same feelings. Besides precious babies, God’s creatures (dogs, cats, horses, etc.) are what sustain us in life….

I WISH THE OFFICIALS THAT MADE THE PEOPLE ABANDON THEIR DOGS BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE THEY WOULD BE PERMITTED TO BOARD RESCUE BUSSES DURING THE FLOODING OF NEW ORLENES USA. THOSE FILMS ON THE ON THE TUBE STILL HAUNT ME TO THIS DAY AND I SHALL NEVER FORGIVE THEM FOR THOSE ACTIONS. I WISH THEY COULD READ THIS.

I agree with you and I’m grateful the various pet rescue groups were there trying to save as many as possible. Still, not enough is done on their behalf…
