Lake Naivasha is an ancient Volcanic Caldera, Once the mouth of an active volcano. The Lake has been a important source of water for native wildlife.
When I Arrived I found it ringed with Flower Factories and (High Class Resorts). This is a place with many claims to fame, as the Island (a privately owned game reserve) has been the host of many a film.
Starting with the classic Out of Africa.
The Game ranger on the Island mentioned being friends with many Hollywood actresses. And with his impoverished appearance, I actually believed him.
Not that it changed much for the lake.
Its in crisis: Still

Extraordinary shot. Beautiful color. Why did the river dry up so much? Over use?

The lake is an ancient volcanic caldera, beneath the waters lies a dormant volcano. The drought has contributed, but its overpopulation that has shrunken the waters. Africa had suffered four continuing years of drought up to 2006. When the rains came this year, they fell in the wrong places and at the wrong time.
