This is a young, female Western Lowland Gorilla. She was sitting by herself in the late afternoon when she suddenly turned to look towards me and I caught her fleeting glimpse on camera.
Gorillas are amazing, beautiful animals, just as individual and thoughtful as ourselves. I want my Gorilla images to show both their similarities with human beings, and their unique differences.
James – the light was very nice – completely even with a warm, afternoon cast. The Gorilla was sitting in front of a cave so was mostly dark behind her and I burnt out the rest in post processing. I also put a sepia cast over the image and slightly blurred then re-sharpened :) As for the expression – lots of waiting! But nope, taken from the public spots..

Charming!;)
Beautiful
This is beautiful Natalie.
So stunning – How do you do it ? The light is so perfect, and the expression. Do you have access somewhere at zoos etc to get these amazing images ?
