Wow.. Im heading there soon, looks like you can get nice and close! Unlike Taronga, never even see the big guy out there..

The Orangutan enclosure at Melbourne is excellent and you will see them generally without fail. It is harder to see the male (Santan) but lately he has been sitting up there. Their enclosure is ‘shared’ rotation with the Siamangs who are also very entertaining anyway.
It can get pretty dark sometimes in there though and you will get the glare of the window on sunny days, so depends on the light :)
Good luck.

Hi Natalie, Again, we have this ‘human quality’ in the features captured of this amazing creature.
Its the hairline and the heavy jowls and the sunken eyes – its an old man thinking the ‘what might have beens’. I think capturing the whole body of these animals is one thiing – but as with human portraits – its the expressions with bring with them emotion for the viewer or whats the point.
All of your portflio pics are the equation :
face + eyes + composition = emotion of the subject and the viewer !!! WELL DONE !!

gorgeous!

I love those creatures, and I´m always deeply sad and angry when I fce their destiny…. First we destroy their habitat and then we enjoy watching them in a bloody prison… called zoo. And we excuse ouselves pretending to save their lives…. this is so bad that sometimes I feel ashamed being human!!!!
Wisdom?? Yes, comparing them with us humans they have wisdom….
Sorry dear Natalie, this worfs are not against you , this is a wonderful photo!!!! It´s only against the people you think animals in prison would be more happy than unfree people!!!!

Sorry for the many spelling mistakes, hope you understand what I mean… happens that I´m too emotional..;-))
