Giant's Foot

Natalie Manuel

Giant's Foot

I was resting in the Fitzroy Gardens, Melbourne when I noticed this scene. Just above was a group of Rainbow Lorikeets yelling at me (also photographed!) but this simple composition stood out to me.

There was something old world about the texture and shape of this old tree and I wanted to reveal the detail of it without being so close that it lost its identity and form. Lucky for me the light was perfect for the capturing of such detail…

Agree with Craig – this is beautiful. This is the sort of photography that I love … for this feels like a scene that I’ve seen a thousand times but tonight it the first time I’ve noticed it.

I read your little post about how the content doesn’t make the photographer that took it a good one. Any person could take a picture of a tree trunk like this, but I true one, as I can tell you are, would make it look really cool. So there’s my compliment to you haha. I’m not saying I’m amazing or anything if I’m coming across all wise. I just really like this picture haha
