Book on the way by Duncan Waldron

Posted on February 03, 2010

After building a body of work that pleases me somewhat (and which reassures me that I haven’t totally lost the knack during the years away from the camera!), I’m happy to consider making an exhibition of myself in the not-too-distant future. Having come to that conclusion, I need to have a set of images printed for a portfolio, and in mulling it over I’ve decided to do it as a Blurb book (because it’s for a portfolio, I’m making it in a large size).

I’d like the book to be more than just a portfolio and have started putting some words to it as well, so I hope it doesn’t become neither one thing nor the other. It is becoming an interesting challenge, and I’m enjoying the process of trying to design something that’s reasonably simple yet with enough visual appeal to make it more than just a catalogue of work. I suppose I could do 2 versions, one just a portfolio, and one with words, intended for sale to a wider audience … I hope. We’ll see where I end up with the wordy version, because I can’t help myself!

Let’s hear it for vanity publishing ;-)

This is brilliant for the cover! the image is very compelling and suits the title so well and I love the way the white text stands out. so great!

  • Duncan Waldron:

Thanks dbw – glad you like it. Looks like you can see what I’m getting at :)
