I love Astronomy Picture of the Day. It’s a daily lucky dip of what’s new or even old and still interesting in astronomy, sometimes with breathtaking images. Today’s image is a recently discovered pretty, diaphanous object that is as yet unidentified for sure.
Proving that there are still interesting things in this amazing universe that can be discovered by amateurs, the curious aspect of this one is that it was discovered twice, independently, within 11 days. That’s not abnormal with comets, but for needle-in-a-haystack deep-sky objects, it’s rather more unusual.
