Lovely tonal range. I like the subject and the movement implied by the birds.

Thanks :-) I was after just enough movement in the wings. I like the single bird on the right – seemed to be a loner (or not hungry).

The best compositiion of all and an untouched photo, beautiful scenery.

Thanks again micmac – you’ve been busy today ;-) And you’re right – it is untouched apart from slight brightness/contrast adjustment & dust retouching.

I have printed this on several occasions, and each time, have chosen a slightly different composition, but this is the most recent ‘incarnation’.

this is so atmospheric and moody… absolutely stunning, i love it… it reminds me of a character from pl travers’ mary poppins novels, a poor woman who relentlessly sold seed to the rich so she could feed the birds… and to know it’s in glasgow is icing on the cake :) congratulations on the home page feature.

  • Duncan Waldron replied

Hi Holly, thanks for that exuberant comment :) Are you a Glaswegian?

This has a timeless quality about it. It could be the 1940s or it could be yesterday…except it wasn’t frosty and the wind would have bowled her across the park.

  • Duncan Waldron replied

Thanks again Vicky. I so rarely photograph people, and am always pleasantly taken aback when folk enthuse about this one … but it’s nice :)

She’s very brave, wearing a dark coloured coat with all those feathered bombers in the vicinity.
