The old fence through a flood pond on the edge of the Nelson’s Waimea Inlet catches floating detritus from recent floods. The last of the previous day’s storm clouds still loom over the Richmond hills.

Canon EOS 450D.

Near Richmond, South Island, New Zealand.

I am a ceaseless adventurer: I left my native Scotland in the mid 1970s to a life on the other side of the planet – in New Zealand. As a naturalist since childhood, I’m fascinated with life and living systems and how humans are connected with it.

My photography is mostly about drawing attention to everyday sights, things most people walk or drive past and scarcely notice in their distracted hurry to be somewhere else. Capturing and presenting the way the light falls – that’s the fun!
