Roman Villa, Shropshire UK by Sheila Laurens

Canvas Prints

Available to buy on…

The Roman Villa from Wroxeter, Shropshire that was featured in the 6 week TV series “Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day”.
It is on the site of an existing Roman ruined town.

6 men from the building trade came together to build this villa for English Heritage in 6 months.
They had to build it using only tools and materials that were used in the day.
The builders had no previous knowledge of Roman history.

I was invited to Opening Day by English Heritage and I met Tim the Plasterer, who single-handedly plastered the whole building !!
They all lost so much weight during the project and Tim is here jokingly displaying his Workout DVD !!

Wonderful shot. Love the story!! Hello, Tim! Great job, man.

  • Hiya… He was such fun…. He was so very proud of his achievement and he mixed all the lime mortar and plaster by hand too!
It was a good TV series over 6 weeks, very informative but mega entertaining because of the trials and tribulations of the builders!!
    Thanks Lin XX
