HAND OF FRIENDSHIP by NICK COBURN PHILLIPS

HAND OF FRIENDSHIP by

When a Photographer sees beauty and sees it how he wishes to see it ~ it’s just perfect ~ it needs little adjustment.

However, this is a completely ‘natural photo’ taken in a completely ‘unnatural environment’ for these Sharks ~ lying on the floor of an Asian Fishmarket ~ awaiting her very sad and real fate…

Under a sharp blade the head of this species goes on the chopping block.

This ‘little leopard of the jungle seas’ ~ does no harm to Humans ~ yet we butcher them ~ predominantly for their fins and a mere ‘pittance’ ~ compared to what could be earned in ‘sustained revenue’ from charging marine park fees for divers.

Concerned divers would be only too happy to pay a few extra ‘Dive Dollars’ ~ if they knew that the extra would establish protection and plans for Shark conservation.

Under the Ocean ~ Leopard Sharks ~ extend their ‘hand of friendship’ to the avid Photographer.

Sitting gently in sandy bays ~ they ‘readily pose’ for their photo-shoot.

A more natural ‘harmonious’ setting ~ under the waves where they belong!

Thank you for sharing Nick. As a terrifie-of-shark person, I like how you present this as the hand of a friend… makes us realise sharks are not all teeth! Great job!

Thanks Marie-Eve ~ yes ~ Jaws has painted a distorted image somewhat ~ more people die from choking per year than by Shark attack…and this little leopard has tiny villiform teeth which it uses to crush crabs and prawns ~ so NO bite there!!! Harmless and stunning! VBR Nick :-)
