TRUE 'CHINA' PORCELAIN by

A porcelain crab sits nestled within the soft caressing tentacles of its host anemone ~ shimmering with iridescence ~ well illuminated by light ~ penetrating the shallow waters ~ under a South China Sea.

Anemone Crabs (Porcellanidae) live together in pairs under the protection of an anemone.

They attempt to guard their territory from clownfish that also establish themselves among the anemone. The anemone offers shelter from the elements, protection from predators and in exchange ‘scraps of food’ are inadvertently provided by the anemone crab ~ along with a ‘house cleaning service’.

A classic example of inter-dependency and “Mutual Symbiosis!”

Although a bounty of China porcelain was found nearby ~ during the excavation of the Brunei Shipwreck ~ this Wildlife in situ ~ is the ‘true’ reward and legacy ~ provided by Nature.
