Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque located in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. Adorned with marble from Italy, granite from Shanghai, crystal chandeliers from England and carpets from Saudi Arabia. Outside ~ surrounded by a serene manmade lagoon ~ a 16th century Royal barge reposes.

Governed by General Haji Sir Hassan al-Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah – the 29th Sultan of Brunei.

Symbols of the Monarchy sit at the top of the Royal barge. A parasol and yellow flag along with four feathers symbolizing the protection of justice, tranquillity, prosperity, and peace.

In Southeast Asia, yellow is traditionally the colour of royalty, and the royal standards of Malaysia and Thailand, along with the presidential flag of Indonesia, also use a yellow field.

Brunei Darussalam (“Brunei the Abode of Peace”).

As a Marine Scientist, Underwater Photographer, Wildlife Conservation FilmMaker & emerging Explorer ~ Nicks’ recent film “Colours of the Gulf” documented the plight of whale sharks and other marine life in the aftermath of the Gulf oil spill.
