The forest canopy is essential to providing ‘niche’ habitat for jungle ‘biodiversity’ but it’s more than just that… primary ‘pristine’ forests act as rainwater capture and filtration zones ~ their roots percolating provisions of ‘clean potable’ water. The canopy provides shelter from harmful UV radiation and absorb harmful CO2 gases ~ pumping life into the surrounding areas by providing a plentiful source of fresh breathable oxygen!

Loss of these magnificent forests is given up for ‘palm oil’ plantations due to the bane of economics ~ ‘short term rewards’ which sustain little life other than palm oil…
