Coral reefs are such a precious commodity ~ little thought is given to these rich and varied ‘sea-gardens’ or ‘underwater forest’ systems.
Reef systems like these help with sequestration of carbon ~ “locking up harmful carbon dioxide” within the calcareous tissue such as within these ‘stony cup corals’ ~ which helps to reduce Global Warming. It is imperative that we tend to these gardens and nurture them and protect them from environmental degradation and pollution ~ they are a vital asset to the health of the Planet and our future generations life support.
