This is a painting I did of my boyfriend. He has a history of drug use and because of it has had continuous panic attacks and occasional hallucinations. He has now quit all drug use, but he continues to have these lasting effects every so often. I made this piece after I witnessed one of his panic attacks/hallucinations for the first time. At this time he told me that my room was made of corrugated cardboard. One thing I tried to capture in this painting was the pained, frightened stare he always gets during his attacks. It is always a difficult thing to witness as there is little he can do to make the attack stop, and there is nothing I can really do to help.
