We all seem to exist in a state of perpetual routine. wake up,shower, work, home, eat, sleep and then repeat!.. over and over we travel this road spending our precious treasure of moments like so much small change. I try to hear these words as I travel through nature.I try to listen to the furtive pleas of an intended destination with a certain dis-regard. Take your time dennis..Slow the pace a bit..Look,see the world! See the small things ,see the many gifts that nature has created for us to gaze upon that are not mighty or impressive.See the detail and the small world around you. Try to catch the little squirrel as it scurries for a safe place to watch from, try to see the beauty of a tiny mountain stream. There is never going to be a sign pointing the way to this little stream, let alone this little waterfall !…It exists for me.It pours its beauty over the rocks and across the logs for my eyes only ,(at least at this moment.) .That is a very special feeling if you allow yourself the indulgence of the moment.. Stop,look,..NO!,Really look at the detail and the color and the texture and a thousand other tiny wonders arranged just for you.If it takes a camera to see these things than that camera must be the grandest gift you have ever received!..It is allowing you(and Ducilla..) the grace to enjoy this little spot created with care.. Use the camera to teach you the ability to slow down and actually feel the moment.Don’t just stare at the scene, feel the scene.Feel the nature that created this entire scene just for you, at this moment..As I learn these lessons in the tiny baby steps I seem to take, I try to bring them home with me..Bring them to my “other” life..I try to incorporate these small treasures in my daily existence. To see the curve of a smile, the glance of a eye… To see the beauty in a well made salad..A small smile at a silly thought.. These "little " things are very similar to the small waterfall high in the mountains. They are designed to enhance our senses and to heighten our awareness of how we see this life. How we exist ..Weather we made a wise purchase with the “treasure” of our life…taken from “The Epitaph of an Addicted Photographer”…Please see the photo of the same name…posted next to this “little” thought in my portfolio under the writing category..
A view of the “small” pleasures in life. The little back-country waterfall masquerading as a teacher?..
