Pulling At The Reins
Horse and rider in sync before starting their course at the Grand Prix in Ocala, FL. This was taken during the Horse Shows in the Sun Winter 2008 series in the horse capital of Florida. In the Grand Prix, horses and riders will tackle 10-16 jumps of up to 5 feet 3 inches, and spreads up to 6 feet. It is a rigorous test of horse and rider’s ability to work together. In this picture, you can see the horse’s eagerness to go conflicting with the rider’s hesitance and foreknowledge of the challenges of the course.
The rider must be completely focused on the horse underneath her, and ignorant of distractions around the ring. I wanted to emphasize this feeling by only allowing the horse and rider to be in color while leaving everything else in black and white.

I just love these selective colouring equestrian images of yours, they are fantastic, as show rings are often quite “busy” and it highlights the main subject!

Thanks so much Squealia! I have so much fun with it and it does eliminate a lot of noise from the background. lol in the photo and in regards to the show itself.
