    Beautiful~

  • Duane Salstrand replied

Thanks Tammy,,,it really doesn’tdo justice to actually seeing it…The perception of it’s vastness, power and peacefulness can’t be conveyed in a 2 dimensional image…but I”m glad you get something from it

Great light and color contrast between the earth sky and water elements. Consider maybe a crop or even an HDR process for the bottom part. The larger part of dense shadows may take away from the beauty and magic of the water and mountain. Still, it is a great capture that reflects beauty and tranquility.

  • Duane Salstrand replied

Eyal, Thanks for the comments. Foreground is intentionally without detail to increase strength, drama and add interest. Your mind will fill in information and accept it in color. If this were a B&W image I wouldn’t be able to get away without the detail. In color, detail in the foreground would tend to lose all those elements and make it a visually weaker image, probably like a late dusk image you’ve already seen. If I get the time, I’ll bring out the detail in the foreground and let you see it…you may like the detailed one more, who knows. That’s what I love about photography. Making an image is like playing a piece of music…it can be played differently each time it’s played. Keep shooting… thanks for taking the time to not only look, but to comment.

Magic! I find the dark area only adds to the intensity of the lighting and colours of the sky and rock face. Very nicely done.

  • Duane Salstrand replied

    Mike,
As intended…Thanks for commenting, Most are telling me to get more detail in the foreground and I think that would kill the drama and strength of the image. Most do not get enough or any drama into their images. Since this is a 2 dimensional media you need drama and depth for visual interest. Something I’ve always shot for…no pun intended. Sometimes less is more…Thank you for taking the time to view the work and then comment on it.

    Good on ya

    Duane
