Roller Derby Bout One 2010 by David Sundstrom

I was lucky enough to get a media pass to the first Roller Derby bout for the year.

The bout itself was held at Syndey Boys High between last years winners The D’VIANTS and the runners up S.A.S (Screamin’ Assault Sirens).

The conditions really pushed the limits of my gear, particularly the low fluorescent lighting of the gym. As a result most of my shots were at ISO 6400 using my 70 – 300 VR wide open with a flash. If I’m going to do this type of shoot more regularly I might just have to invest in a D700 / D3s and 70-200 f2.8 VR.

Half time entertainment was burlesque dancer Sarina del Fuego

In the end the bout was won by S.A.S.
