It was from this old hostelry situated in Ayr High Street that the Robert Burns’ character Tam O’Shanter supposedly left on his good horse Meg for his encounters with witches and the de’il in Burns’ famous poem of the same name
Haven’t been in it for a few years – don’t know if it’s still open for business – but it used to do a nice pint
