What aroused horses do
This is called the Flehmen posture – it’s something horses do, apparently when they’re sexually aroused. It has something to do with improving the sense of smell.

The stallion is able to detect whether a mare near by is in heat by using the gland in their mouth to sense certain hormones normally through urine : )
