Castell Coch, which in english means Red Castle is a 19th century Gothic castle built on the remains of a genuine 13th century fortification in the village of Tongwynlais, north Cardiff. Built in the 1870s, for the 3rd Marquess of Bute to a design by William Burges, and possessing the most remarkable interior decoration. It consists of a keep, distinctive turreted towers, an enclosed courtyard and a gatehouse.
