the sacred coca is not a drug... by

The Spanish words translated mean….

“The Sacred Coca is Not a Drug”…

I created this design to help raise awareness about the sacred coca leaf – it is not a drug, but a sacred rite in the shamanic healing traditions of South America and everyday life…

The sacred coca leaf is used in all aspects of life of the indigenous peoples of South America… the Q’ero in Peru use the coca leaf as a “kintu” whereby they blow their prayers into 3 leaves and place into their despacho ceremonies…

The coca leaf is also used as a tea and chewed to help with altitude sickness from living very high in the mountain villages… it’s part of their everyday lives and helps sustain them in many ways….

More info about the sacred coca leaf practice and the culture of the Q’ero mountain people of Peru at…
