This drawing has been my biggest challenge to date. I chose the scene and large size to help me learn colored pencils and patience. Nearly 60 hours spread out over 13 months has taught me valuable lessons. There are a dozen species of coral, five species of fish, and several other animals. I deliberately chose species native to the Great Barrier Reef to ensure they all would be found in the same area in real life. To read about the process of creating this drawing and descriptions of each species, please take a look at my blog.
Many of the species found in coral reefs are endangered because of the delicate balance of the water chemistry and temperature.
