Since I was young, the goal of my drawings has been to be as realistic as possible. As a scientifically-oriented person, I value accuracy and detail. But at the same time, I don’t want a drawing to be flat, lifeless. I want to capture a moment in time.

Ever since I can remember, the subject of my drawings has mostly been animals. I feel like I have a deep connection with the natural world, and I want to show it through my art.

I am a self-taught artist, and after several years of trying different media, I have settled on two that I really connect with: charcoal and pyrography. I love seeing a drawing come to life, and these media do that for me.

I'm on Facebook

I have set up a page for my art on Facebook. I post work in progress in addition to completed drawings and announcements. I’d be thrilled if you became a fan! / (Please note that I will not accept friend requests unless I actually know you personally. Don’t be offended, I just like to keep my personal and professional lives separate.) / Thanks!

Exhibit Planned in Texas Next Month

Just thought I’d share the news! My penguins have been accepted to the 8th Annual Wildlife Juried Art Competition in Irving, Texas. The exhibit will run from October 4 through 29 at the Jaycee Center for the Arts, and is put on by the Irving Arts Association. This will be my first non-local exhibit, and definitely the first out-of-state. I’m quite excited!
