This textured and multi-layered abstract using bark is a good piece to project what you see in this vividly colored photograph. I often suggest images, but I thought this piece lended itself to your creative imagination and projections that like a Rorschach can elicit unconscious material. Like the 10 inkblots on a Rorschach, if you project images on 10 pieces, I can offer you feedback. A brief description of my experience using the Rorschach as a projective test is included in my biography. It also helps to tell a story about what you see. This piece shows best when viewed in the larger format.

Thanks Kathie, Porask, Jan and butchart for your wonderful comments. No need to be nervous about viewing your projections on my abstracts. I only comment when asked. Most of the time I see amazing creativity and original responses from artists. The test reveals very positive traits and those who have shared what they see and or told stories
have received very positive feedback. There are standard responses on the standarized test that I could not apply to the canvas I create. It is natural to project imagery like we did as kids with shadows on the walls and animals in the shapes and forms of clouds. I still love to look at clouds and share what they look like as well as playing my adult game of “hidden pictures.” Artists tend to have an expansive mind and offer original responses that I don’t often see in the Rorschach indicating a rich inner life and a unique perspective that I want to encourage. It is often better to look at ambiguous imagery in the large format to get the full picture and you can also look rotate the image to see another series of images. I often see so much and like dreams I like interpreting material that adds to self-awareness. Apprehension indicates you are anticipating something I might saw that is painful or perhaps has negative connotations. When we let our thoughts reach the light of awareness, we also have access to a wonderful treasure chest of some of our most creative jewels.

fabulous colors and light ~ well done! It does look like sluicing waters falling over cliff & rock as Kathie sees ~ I also love finding the “hidden pictures” as much now as I did as a child reading those Highlights magazine :)

Lot’s of beautiful texture and colors, the first thing I see is an arrow pointing downward and the letter Y…I also see another smaller Y a P and the number 6. I see a portrait of a dog in the upper left and just under that I see a face which appears to be a woman. A small blue letter A in the upper right and some raindrops. A marvelous piece Julie! like a window to life.

Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments. I think of Highlights and hidden picture as a child and projecting images into shadows and clouds. This is the same game for adults to sharpen your visual acuity. The first image i saw was a rust colored dog on the upper left with sad eyes, a blue alien at the top in the crevice of the photo and many more images. The dog that Mark also saw is the largest image that would make a great photo on its own.
