The Mystery Man In The Window by

I found this old piece of bark on
a large old tree in the Santa Monica
Mountains. The things that people
often discard are often a treasure to
me. The old adage that “one mans
trash is another man’s treasure” is
a principle that greatly influences my work.
Although, I enjoy visiting places that
present beautiful objects and scenery
to photograph. I prefer to
focus on the “unseen” to highlight
what that might otherwise go unnoticed.
It also is a challenge to perceive and
give importance to things that in the past
I would never have paid attention to. I feel
like an explorer finding unusual objects,
scenery and living things to bring to the
viewer’s attention. I am influenced by
the words of Michaelangelo: who said
“Every block of stone has a statue inside it
and it is the task of the sculptor to
discover it. I saw the angel
in the marble and carved until I
set him free.” This photograph is
a good example of my fascination
with the “unseen” and my intention
is to bring light to the dark to share
my perceptions of ordinary things
and then transform them into
meaningful icons. I enjoy your
perceptions of my abstracts and
continue to develop my visual acuity
by projecting my perceptions of what
is often unnoticed. This wood has
great texture and I see a man
inside a window with his face pointed
down. In the same location, I also see
a boy wearing blue looking into the
window. I can see the back of his head.
What do you perceive in this
abstract and who is the man in
the window? Please view this
in the large format.
