Vintage Dress by

This abstract from rock tiles of an old building illuminates the myriad of imagery within the
visual metaphor of the vintage (past)
“dress.” I wonder who wore this beautiful
piece and if she was aware of all she
carried with her that may have not emerged
to the top bodice. This visual metaphor
reflects how abundant our unconscious
imagery is revealing messages in free association, play and dreams. The
freedom to create uncensored work that
flows with ease between intrapsychic states
enhances our imagination and creativity.
The wonderful aspect of abstract art
is that it allows the viewer to
“suspend disbelief” and like
Dorothy travel the “yellow brick road”
to Emerald City. The sense of wonder and awe as we enter symbolic worlds abandoning the contraints of everyday civilization and habitual patterns helps us discover a new self-
awareness to heal the split off or
wounded parts of self. This beautifully
textured “dress” demonstates two strata;
the conscious need for structure and
boundaries until the psyche is ready
to reveal the unchained memories
of the unconscious.

This photograph is part of a series of old rock buildings that opened a new door for me to continue to create my artistic “rorschachs.” I appreciative your perceptions of my abstract photography. To fully appreciate the vast
array of imagery, view this piece in the large format.

Everytime you look at it, you will see something else, a new awareness that brings light
to the dark and unknown realms of the unconscious.
