Please share with us what psychological or medical condition from which you are suffering. This can also include friends and family. I hope to create a support group so people with similar or the same issues can share information and resources for treatment.

I am a naturalist and take my strength from rock and trees; but my wife Debbie, for over 30 years suffers from manic-depressive disease. So I have some understanding of the needs of this group.

Thanks everyone for sharing the condiions you struggle with. I want to respond to your bubblemails. When you have time it would be helpful to include if any treatments have worked including psychotherapy, pain management, medications and alternative therapies.

Hi, I’m “Lucy”. In 2006, after having gone through Hurricane Katrina, I went through a life-altering car accident. The driver was drunk, never got out of his car (neither did the witnesses) and fled the scene with the witnesses. My car was totaled and what saved me was I was working and had a trunk full of brochures, etc in several plastic containers. If these were not in the car, this driver’s car would have physically touched me and left me worse than it did. Right after the accident, I complained of pain in lthe lower right side of my back, neck pain and migraines just to say the least. None of these I had ever had. So let’s move it up two years to now. About a month ago, finally my doctors did another MRI and EMG testing and discovered I had a ruptured disc and two pinched nerves on both sides of my back. I haven’t worked since the accident because of the pain, injections and surgery and my job layed me off about two weeks after the accident. I can’t sit for long, I can’t stand for long and I can’t walk for long. I told my Rehab Counselor what am I supposed to do get a job laying down-LOL. So I know I will not return to a traditional job. So as a result of the accident, the depression that started with storm and I thought had ended, kick up to 1,000 degrees. I began to suffer with panic attacks, nightmares of the Hurricane now mixed in with a whole lot of mess and confusion and fear, a fear of driving, and now a touch of agoraphobia (a fear of leaving the house). I know, I know what a mess. My life is changed forever. Oh, yeah and did I tell I gained 30 pounds in a month then an additional 20 after the accident. Thank God I’ve lost about 35 of them; I have about 20 more to lose. This has been a tough two years. I think I’ve cried more than anything. I’ve been miserable, in more pain than I’ved experienced even while I’m alseep (which doesn’t come easy these days). I’ve isolated myself from my friends, can’t drive long distances to see my family and I don’t go to big stores that don’t have a mobile wheelchair. Well I couldn go on and on. So a support group would be great; I hope this helps.
