Lantanta's Heart
I found this grouping of flowers, lantanas that grow more frequently in the Southern States. I took several photographs of these vibrantly beautiful flowers that grow in bunches. Lantana’s aromatic flower clusters (called umbels) are a mix of red, orange, yellow, or blue and white florets. Other colors exist as new varieties are being selected. The flowers typically change color as they mature, resulting in inflorescences that are two- or three-colored. This photograph has less bunches to appreciate the colors and delicacy of these magnificent florals. This particular cluster touched my heart. Can you find the heart shaped bunch in lavender and red? “There are philosophies as varied as the flowers of the field, and some of them weeds and a few of them poisonous weeds. But none of them create the psychological conditions in which I first saw, or desired to see, the flower.”
G.K. Chesterton (1874-1936)
English Writer.
