Stourhead: Bridge and Pantheon by

Featured in Wessex UK (30th August 2011)

Stourhead is owned by the National Trust.

Stourhead is a very large (2,650 acres) estate near Mere, Wiltshire. The gardens were laid out between 1741 and 1780.

Taken with my trusty old Fujifilm S9500 on 25th August. Adjustments made in Photoshop with filters applied using Topaz Adjust.

I moved to Wiltshire recently and was taken to Stourhead last week by my wonderful neighbours who wanted me to see this lovely place.

Stunning view David. Great processing. The pantheon reminds of a film called “What dreams may come”

  • Thanks Don. This was my first experiment with Topaz Adjust. Haven’t seen that film but Wikipedia says parts of the grounds were used in Pride and Prejudice in 2005.

Super processing of this Stourhead scene,
    John.

  • Thank you so much, John. Not quite in the same league as your shot of a similar scene but I am proud to appear on the same page as your work (English Heritage and NT).

Many thanks for adding the image to your favourites.

This is amazing! I love the way the bridge reflects in the water, but slightly distorted.
And the processing is flawless too!

  • Thank you, Cavan. It was a bit experimental with a new bit of software. Usually I would do an hdr of something like this but I felt it was time for a change. Topaz Adjust is far more subtle than Photomatix.

Fantastic colors! This image looks like a painting! I love this! I am not always crazy about HDR photography but this is super!

  • Thank you, Christopher. I know what you mean about hdr. I have been trying it out for a while now and if I get one image out of ten that I’m happy with, I feel quite pleased. That’s why, on this occasion, I thought I’d try something else to bring out the tones but avoid the grain and the strange colours hdr sometimes produces. So, I used Topaz Adjust and was pleasantly surprised by the results.

I’m so pleased you like it and thank you for adding the image to your favourites.
