BEACHCOMBING!!!!!!!

The Wild West Coast beaches of Aotearoa (NEW ZEALAND)

Native New Zealand woods such as Rata, Supplejack, Kowhai, Rimu, and many more are washed down west coast rivers to the Tasman sea where they are sculptured and shaped by the wave action and the stones and eventually left near the high tide mark.

It is my pleasure to walk along these beautiful wild shores looking for the pieces which grab my attention, and taking them back to my workshop.

Using saws, drills, sanders, stainless steel, epoxy resin and paints———these are crafted by the imagination into forms and shapes, which are whimsical, elegant and often amusing!

Rob Barrer (the Artist) is also a member of the well known New Zealand Indie band SILVERWOODSTUDIO !
