I took this while standing on a balcony facing a side street and Bourbon street. The weather was just about to become stormy and the whole city had a yellow tint because the sun was going down. It was a great trip and this photo is one of my personal favorites.
The technique I used here is called High Dynamic Range Imagining (HDRi). It tends to reveal a lot of texture and contrast. The technique involves taking 3 or more exposures of the same exact image and then compressing them into 1 image. This allows for a much more drastic combination of highlights, mid tones, and shadows.
