She stared up upon the boy that stood before her, taking in his features as he stared back. Neither of them speaking, neither of them wanting to break the content silence; they just looked at each other, finding the answer to the unasked question that was engulfing their minds.
She brushed a strand of her away from his face, his hair being long and shadowing over his beautiful eyes. The girl was happy, just being with him; loving every moment they had together.
Behind them was a gorgeous sunset, a sunset that looked more spectacular than any other. Perhaps it was because of them knowing how they felt towards each other, without spilling the slightest murmur that the scenery around the two just shone so brightly, or perhaps it could have been a simply coincidence, the girl couldn’t muster what she knew anymore.
The wind blew around the pair so gently; the feeling so warm, yet so cold. She wrapped her arms around herself; coiling up to keep the heat in, shivering, not expecting the soft sensation of his coat to be drawn over her. The material so soft and heavy that it felt like a large blanket protecting her from the world.
She opened her mouth to speak, to try and thank him but no words came; her mind growing numb. But nevertheless, he placed a finger upon her lips, keeping her silent; the tip of his thumb trailing along her lower lip, his deep eyes transfixed. He shook his head meekly; quietly telling her there was no need to thank him.
The loss of feeling of his thumb against her lips caused her skin to tingle for the yearning touch. She considered, perhaps this kind of emotion had no need for words; gratitude, happiness, fear, anxiety – maybe no one needed to speak it at all, it could all be said in the look of someone’s eye, someone’s expression.
By the long stare her male companion was giving her, he felt the same way. It now being his turn to brush away strands of hair from her face, but at the same time held her cheek in his hand, so lovingly that it made her sigh and lean into the touch, closing her eyes.
Already, she could feel their essences becoming one, just standing there in the middle of nowhere, in the tranquil stillness. Pulling away his hand, relieving her of his touch to her dismay, the boy before her took a step forward and leaned her forehead against hers.
To her, he was so tall, so tall she had to step on her toes to reach his height sometimes. She could feel him nuzzling and the soft trail of his mouth planting gentle kisses upon her flesh.
The sensation wanted to make her hold him, hold him tight and never let go. Wanted to keep him in a never-ending embrace, with the dying sunlight shining around them for all eternity.
This connection, this adoring for each other; the content calm between them had been going on for what felt like forever. Every year they would come to this spot in the middle of nowhere and enjoy each other’s company. She being held in his arms, and he knowing, wishing it would never stop.
They loved each other, doesn’t matter however which way they loved one another, the affection was there, they didn’t need words to express it. Simply silent adoration.
