He died a valiant death with bravery in his heart. That is what was read on the grave stone yet I can see him in the final moments lying in the bottom of a ditch trembling with his eyes closed and ears shut clenching her blood soaked necklace waiting for its good luck.
He rises to his knees pleading to wake up because this cannot be real life. He can feel the onslaught grow closer, the only thing he hears is the faint cry of retreat as a barrage of bullets spin past his head.
In this moment with so many thoughts running through his mind it is realized that he is nothing more than the cowardly lion without Dorothy to hold his hand and guide him. You see the storm never came and she is still laying in her bed sound asleep only knowing him in her dreams.
As the bombardiers are closing in and the mortars drawing near, there is only one way to go home. With that thought he holds the gun between his teeth and forgets to say goodbye. His body was found as a causality of war and he was buried as a tragic hero, with his secrets just between you and me.
Tragic hero
I don’t know I just sat down and wrote it as it came to me.

I think your the only one who likes it. Probably because it’s really about how soldiers are so brave and fearless but instead just normal people.

Wow, dude. It’s a great piece because it shows that they are like normal people. We tend to forget that. Great job!
