I prefer Storms in the Summer. Bloody cold standing out in the wind and rain only a day away from the start of Winter. This cell refused to come onto land and just teased me sitting out over the Ocean behind Surfers Paradise.

Surfers Paradise, Queensland.

I’m Derek, Gold Coast Photographer who now spends more time at FaceBook than here.

Sometimes I take pretty pictures.

Nice work, love the lights on the water!

  • Thanks, this is the first time I have shot Lightning from here – can’t wait for Summer.

Fascinating! It would make a great shot even without the lightning, but like this… wow!

  • I shoot here that often I know my camera settings like the back of my hand. When the Summer Storm season begins in a few months I shall stalk this place and wait for the Lightning to land on the Buildings.

I’ve been watching these storms on the radar hoping they would cone south for me …. amazing.g shot…. I love it

  • Thanks, been kind of frustrating lately as most Storms seem to split and skip Southport/Surfers area. This one just wouldn’t come onto the beach like the cell further north and south did.

    Awesome shot Derek

  • I’ll work out a way to keep couple of cameras dry and give it a go. I have an idea.
