The story about my little teddy bear, Theodore. When I was two years old, my Mom and Grandmother took me with them to a yard sale (known as rummage or garage sales in some parts of the world). The homeowners had a four year old son who talked and played with me while my Mom and Grandmother looked at the items for sale. When it was time to leave, my Mom told me to give the little boy his bear back, but he told her that he wanted me to have it. My Mom told him “thank you”, but that he should keep it. He said again for me to have it, so Mom told his Mom about it, and the woman asked her son if he really wanted me to have it. He said he did, and his Mom told my Mom to let me keep it. How sweet was he?! Awww.

This happened over 39 years ago, and to this day I have no clue as to how to find that little boy…well, grown man. My Mom was very worried about that little boy for a few days as she figured he may have changed his mind and was crying for his bear. :-( I hope that never happened.

Anyway, I called my bear “Teddy” for a while, and when I was a bit older, I changed it to “Theodore”….the long version of “Teddy”, of course. :-)

I still have my bear, but sadly, he lost his nose many, many years ago. :-/

this is precious, I have one myself that belonged to my father-in-law when he was a child, so I would say mine is 80 years old :-)) Also missing his nose and is full of a straw-like material, moveable arms and legs too

  • Thank you, Vickie. :-)

It’s wonderful that we both have such treasures. I’ve known of many bears losing at least one eye, but I don’t know about the nose. ;-)
I would be interested in seeing your bear. Eighty years old? Wow! Do you have a picture of it on RB?

You know, it would be amazing if the original owner of this bear saw the picture here. :-D

    Thanks again!

I do not have him on RB, but taking a picture is not a problem he’s sitting on top of a kitchen cupboard. I’ll get on that and let you see it.

  • Oh, that’s great! I’m looking forward to it, and I’m glad you don’t mind uploading the photo. :-)

    Thanks!

Great little tale! If only teddy’s could talk!

  • Hello, and thank you so much for the comment and the feature! :-)

Yes, it would be pretty amazing if they could talk. Some might need a support group because of all little kids put them through. LOL!

    Thanks again!

What a wonderful story behind this shot of your “Theodore.” I love his big google eyes that do seem to be saying “Where is my nose!!” LOL Congrats on your feature, as well!! :)Karen

  • Hi, Karen!

Thanks so much for the compliment/congratulations. :-)

I’m glad you like the story about Theodore. :-) I guess you’re right about those eyes asking the question. I hadn’t thought much about it, but I guess that’s how I came up with the title w/o thinking too hard about it.
I can really see what you mean, now. LOL!

  • Hi, Sheila.

I replied with a “thank you” a while back, but didn’t click the proper reply link. I just noticed that, today. I know it’s been at least a year, but I still wanted to make sure you knew that I was thankful for the feature.

    Thanks so much! :D
