The story about my little teddy bear, Theodore. When I was two years old, my Mom and Grandmother took me with them to a yard sale (known as rummage or garage sales in some parts of the world). The homeowners had a four year old son who talked and played with me while my Mom and Grandmother looked at the items for sale. When it was time to leave, my Mom told me to give the little boy his bear back, but he told her that he wanted me to have it. My Mom told him “thank you”, but that he should keep it. He said again for me to have it, so Mom told his Mom about it, and the woman asked her son if he really wanted me to have it. He said he did, and his Mom told my Mom to let me keep it. How sweet was he?! Awww.
This happened over 39 years ago, and to this day I have no clue as to how to find that little boy…well, grown man. My Mom was very worried about that little boy for a few days as she figured he may have changed his mind and was crying for his bear. :-( I hope that never happened.
Anyway, I called my bear “Teddy” for a while, and when I was a bit older, I changed it to “Theodore”….the long version of “Teddy”, of course. :-)
I still have my bear, but sadly, he lost his nose many, many years ago. :-/
