I have always had a strong interest within photography. My father helped fuel this passion by giving me my first 35mm camera before I entered high school. This changed my life as I began taking pictures of everything from local sporting events to people. I went directly from high school into college at St. Francis University in Ft. Wayne, Indiana for commercial art. While attending college I sold numerous pieces of art ranging from drawings to photography within the student gallery.

From 1999 – Current: I have been shooting in digital and doing a lot of self portrait work, shooting with models and GLBT events ranging from being the photographer at transgender events to burlesque shows. The self portrait work stems a lot, from permanent injuries, I have from a car accident, to my back , neck and hip resulting in arthritis & degenerating discs among other issues. In retrospect it’s rather funny to me as because of my condition I actually have a conflict with the camera in doing self -portrait work or being photographed. However, in the stages I feel safe and I am going for being free.

The stages are a interest in “staged photography” in which I can play and work safely or not so, safely given the shoot & I push. ( I have had set accidents like many) I feel I have played a lot in that in film noir and some sci-fi pieces and want to expand further in staged scenes.

Staged photography is born out of boredom or dissatisfaction with the world. The photographer wants to see the world as a place where anything is possible-a place full of more beauty, more meaning, more play, more symbolism.

I do believe if I had an entire year with a full, lighting crew & complete warehouse of props …I would turn into a kid again.
