"New RB rules and guidelines for HOSTS ONLY???"
Further to my previous journal entry querying why I can’t find or access the new RB rules and guidelines – OR the forum thread to comment on them – from my account -
it has now been suggested to me that this is because the “rules and guidelines” AND the forum thread to comment on them has been posted in a “HOSTS ONLY” section of the RB forums!
This means that only people who are members of the “Friends of RB” group – which is only open to hosts of groups – is able to both find and see these “new rules” AND comment!!!!
Peter – if this is true – and my total inability to access both these posts and forums seems to indicate to me that it is – WHY have you chosen to NOT give the wider RB community as a whole the right and opportunity to be informed about and comment on what you have “come up with”?

I would say that it would be open up – but if they did from the start their would be 50,000 members trying to comment and maybe it would fry the site? I dont know hun, Not very computer savvy… So it isnt in the public forum at all?
DragonFlyer replied
Nope – as far as the ‘general RB membership is concerned – NOTHING has happened, nothing has been posted, there is NOTHING to comment on….. “We are not amused”.... as the saying goes….
Kelly J
IF you give me your email by bmail i can send it to you – saved it as a pdf :)
DragonFlyer replied
It’s ok Kelly – I got there via ‘outside RB’ and have it downloaded as a pdf… So – I’ve read it all – but I still can’t comment. Just sent a personal bmail to Peter re this too…
IMHO he is inviting even greater backlash when they finally DO have to release this to all – which they DO have to do – by making it available to only a self-selected elite (sorry – no offence meant LOL) for comment first…

Oooo.
Keep us posted.

I just added a personal bmail to Peter re this – if the ‘post’ was clearly labelled a draft, well, maybe ok… but it’s NOT…...

From what I read into, the Rules and Regulations are not yet finished – in a rough draft. Maybe when they are closer to finalising they will place them in the general forums
DragonFlyer replied
Nope, the version I downloaded as a pdf file says NOTHING about ‘draft’ (I expected it to…) It is clearly titled “The Red Bubble Community Guidelines” and all in it is extremely specific…
Kelly J
Hi, at the beginning of the discussion it states a very early stage update to our community behavioural and content guidelines – so i think this definately suggests a “draft” at this stage if that is any concolation. No offence taken btw.. x
Kelly J
Sorry should be “consolation”.. :)
DragonFlyer replied
So – that is quoted at the beginning of the ‘discussion thread’ – but it is NOT written on the actual document???? Still seems a bit problematic to me – a document of this kind MUST have formally stated on it if it is a ‘formal document’, or a ‘draft’.....
DragonFlyer replied
And – I am apparently now a ‘group host’ Kelly – so I now CAN get in there lol….

I think they were wanting to get a feel from a small amount of people then be overwhelmed in the general public
I was surprised too to see it in the host’s forum, but dont worry I am sure before long they will ask the general population their take on it
DragonFlyer replied
I assume you are right Chris – though in it’s own way it is a ‘potentially provocative’ move again….
Anyway – I am ‘in there now’, and seriously considering my response….

I can see the reasoning about not making a general posting of the draft guidelines, but only just. I wouldn’t expect that everybody on RB would post a comment if it was on the general discussion forums. And since the guidelines are leading to adopting a position about RB that potentially effects everyone I would have thought it just makes sense to get ‘em up front asap. But they have to make their own judgements about strategy for this.
I wanted to point out that there is a fairly big range of opinions being expressed on the forum, but it looks like you have a host gig, so you’ll be able to confirm that for yourself.

Thanks Col – and I just put in my 2 bob’s worth re THE PROPOSED GUIDELINES…. lol ;)))

Hi, sorry to add this to your post but i followed the link..and i thought this was a good idea and looking at your journal it seems that we the “members” have to try other ways to be heard, or comment! so in the mean time..every little bit helps??
Vote to block Block members that give you hasstle !!!
http://feedback.redbubble.com/pages/3434-feedback/suggestions/343167-block-unwanted-members-from-your-portfolio
with the current situation still not haveing come to an acceptable solution wouldnt it be good to have an opportunity to block someone that is “pushing your buttons”
if you agree then please go to the above link and place your wote,
without us allerting the management things just wont change !
DragonFlyer replied
No problems amanda – I’ve already found the link and voted on that – had to remove some votes from other stuff – but this one got max 3 from me ;)))
