Thank you again Peter – it occurred to me that, especially as i address in this interview an issue that I feel is of extremely great importance (way beyond just ‘my work’) – if you know of anyone else who may be interested who would not find this in a ‘Photo Manipulators’ group, I would be very grateful if you would share the link around Thanks Kallena xx
wow, what a journey so far. i really enjoyed reading this and learning something more about you as an artist and your wonderful, and very quick i might add, accolades thus far. i found the insight you have on child abuse very interesting and informative. i wish you all the best in the future with both your self expression artwork and all projects you take on and especially those wish lists. hehe btw, is there a link to the critique you talked about, i’d like to read that, just out of interest. hehe thanks so much K. ;-) xox
Fascinating and well done, Kallena! Can you not get permission from the group to “publish” the interview as a writing piece? That way you can post it as well as add to other forums? Or take most of it, since you wrote the responses, and turn into a written essay, with questions turned around as headers, i.e., How I Got Started, Inspiration and Motivation, Equipment, etc.
Thank you Jan! Interesting idea about publishing it further… I hadn’t thought of putting it in the ‘writing’ section’... Though, now that you mention it, I think I’d like to as all of what I write there is really a message that I do want to spread as far and wide as possible… K xx
Congratulations Kallena!!! I really appreciate your candidness, not only as a person and in your work, but in this interview as well. Your work is an inspiration. I wish you much continued success, including at your exhibition in November.
Thank you so much Al! These are things that I some time ago decided it was most important for me to speak out about, because, with my background – both personal AND professional – I can. And ‘speaking out’ through my art takes it a step further still :))) K xx
Thank you for sharing and also being so honest and open DF. From what you have said it goes a long way to explaining how and why there is so much emotion in each and every piece of your Art but I reserve the right to be truly amazed each time with your ability and talent (and wonder how you have learnt/achieved so much) even though you are so “new” to this medium. :)
I would especially like to thank you for anything and everything you have said that helps us real newbs begin our journey in the Digital Art World. I am sure you remember how daunting it is at the beginning when we compare our own works to those of you “Masters” already established here at RedBubble, and all the confusing messages such as how bad photo manipulation is. But your frankness, honesty and plain common sense messages cut right through all of that.
Thank you for the inspiration you give, the help you give and the encouragement you give whether it is from the comments you post to others, the art you share with us, the explanations on how you create each piece, and also for all you have said during this interview. All of this is even more amazing after reading what you have been through to get to this stage.
O Darryl – what can I say to such a wonderful, thoughtful and heartfelt response… Thank YOU… The seemingly strange part is that – as you mention – I am still so ‘new’ to this medium too, and I most certainly still feel like a TOTAL newbie myself compared to so so many on this site… I was very pleased to have the opportunity to do this interview as, for some time I have known that I wanted to ‘be open’ about my own past, to help spread the message and the motivation behind my work. As happens so often, the opportunity to do this for the first time came right now, when I feel ‘ready’ to do so :))) K xxx
