    H M Bascom

You seem to be dancing in this image – a ballet. Beautiful

  • DragonFlyer replied

Thanks Helen! I like it that you refer to ‘me’ in the image (well – yes – it IS ‘me’ in the original photo lol)... though I think if you took this one at face value you’d never recognise me in the street from it LOL ;)))

I have to say I am a bit of a sucker for the blur…..you’ve done a fantastic job!

  • DragonFlyer replied

Thanks! I just love blur and / or soft focus too :)))

  • Lumase

    Lumase

It’s a blend of sensuality, and fear, that enchants the beholder. Truly…

  • DragonFlyer replied

Thank you for saying that – I think that is what I’m reaching for… the sense of fear – but I know that without the sensuality and maybe vulnerability (?) it won’t connect with the viewer on it’s own… So – seems like I’m moving in a direction that ‘works’ for what I want to achieve and convey

  • Matt Bottos

    Matt Bottos

Love the mystery in this. Im not sure if it’s my imagination but I think I can see a couple of faces in the blurs.

  • DragonFlyer replied

Thank you Matt – and there may very well be a couple of faces there… I didn’t consciously ‘put’ them there… but things just ‘happen’ in this kind of image…

  • butchart

    butchart

they are all brilliant…but this has to be my favorite of the three…... such a sense of longing here… and wanting to be free of one’s self to follow that elusive place that will make us feel whole…....... beautiful haunting work K….b

  • DragonFlyer replied

Thank you so much my friend – I just put this one up an hour or 2 ago… That place is one we all struggle to find – some more than others – I sense that if it can be found then then we and the synchronicity and the connection of the flow will become one…

i keep coming back to this…...it feels familiar and right the place of shadow you’ve captured…..

  • DragonFlyer replied

Thank you very much for your thoughtful comment erich… I feel this place is one many of us may know, but not so many are willing to admit to ourselves that we do…

  • Sarah Russell

    Sarah Russell

It’s like looking within their soul….wow, amazing!

  • DragonFlyer replied

What a truly wonderful comment Sarah! I thank you greatly… I’m still relatively new to this amazing journey of discovery that photography is taking me on, and to receive comments like yours gives me faith that I am moving in a direction with my creativity that is worthwhile
    K xx

  • Sarah Russell

    Sarah Russell

Wow, you’re obviously a natural…...I love all your pictures, can’t wait to see what else you achieve. You’re def moving in the right creative direction!

  • DragonFlyer replied

O thanks so much Sarah! You are too kind! As for being a ‘natural’ – I first tried to get into photography around 25 yrs ago, but too much messy life got in the way. Now – I’ve had to learn a lot of things about life and feelings and what it takes to be ‘human’ the hard way – and I feel as though that is what I try to express through my art. I’m just a ‘visual’ kind of person – I sense feelings, and I kind of ‘see’ in my mind what they look like… The concept grounding most of this work is that of child abuse – it’s effects and consequences. And – I hope through my work to be able to bring this far too common and far too hidden issue more out into the open – as only then will anything be able to be done to help…

  • Tracey Mac

    Tracey Mac

When I was a little girl, nightmares were a common thing, due to abuse.
When I woke up through the night my dad (who never knew the reasons for my nightmares) would come in and hush me and tell me to dream of pretty ballerina’s in order to ward off the nightmares…...
Your image K reminds me of those nights and of the emotional torment and confusion and the ballerina’s I would desperately try to push to the front of my mind…......to keep the nightmares at bay…....
This is more an emotion than an image to me K….......very powerful and magical, I absolutely adore this beautiful piece….......x

  • DragonFlyer replied

Thank you for your wonderfully powerful story Tracey – for me I think it tells me that maybe I am beginning to be able to create what I aim to…
I also grew up with ‘abuse’, and I have worked with it and studied it as an adult for many years… for me the grounding and concept behind pretty much all my work is that of ‘child abuse’ and it’s terrible hurt and effects… but I try to capture a sense of the feelings and concept of the experience and it’s consequences – not portray it blatantly. Your story and response to this image tells me that this image maybe actually succeeds in this aim…
    Thank you so much Tracey
