Just Stand.

Just Stand.

When my partner saw this image on the way to completion, he commented that it was ‘just weird’. Well, I don’t mind being considered ‘weird’, or having my work considered ‘weird’ – in fact I take it as quite a compliment if anyone feels this word ‘fits’ with me and my work…

So – here it is.

Another composite image created from many image layers in varied blending modes, with many textures, erasures and varied blending.

All images used to create this composite taken with Sony Alpha 350, various lenses, and are mine.

the enigmatic quality in this i just love…. my mind can not rest on or choose a single intepretation…. but they hover just out of reach… and all speak of our own personal interaction and relationship with the dark….. ( i’m not expressing myself well here K…but i love this)... it is for me so close to what i was trying to say in my “duality ” piece…....... thank you for thiis work….............love and light…........b

  • Jan Timmons

    Jan Timmons

Not so much ‘weird” as creative, perhaps, K. And to take one’s life experiences and channel them into artistic expression such as this is exciting, I think. Much to ponder here, and I think your creativity is blossoming, growing, expanding, and unstoppable! (If you squash yourself the world will be a sadder place.)

  • DragonFlyer replied

Thank you very very much Jan! What a wonderful thing to say about my creativity – I have no intention at all of ‘squashing myself’... :)))

  • silveraya

    silveraya

weird truly is wonderful, the strength of this is in the seemingly stark contrasts which become enigmatic (if that makes sense) fantastic

  • DragonFlyer replied

I think it does make sense… but then – maybe it’s not always that important for everything to make sense… we can ‘see’ something and sense (o- that word again lol) an impact… but wether we fully ‘understand’ what that impact is… well… Anyway, I’m very glad you ‘like’ this :)))

  • Dragonhide

    Dragonhide

weird is good…. But this works on so many levels because of that and the stark contrast and the rich b&w.. very well done.

  • DragonFlyer replied

thanks very much! and I agree – weird is good – but it does need more than that alone… so thanks especially :)))

  • Matt Bottos

    Matt Bottos

Really love this image. For me feet are very symbolic in that they provide the foundation (representing the spirit) of strength. I relate a lot of this stuff to boxing … I think because it gives me a more “macho” way of expressing myself :) Most people think that a boxers skill come from the hands but the fist wont have as much impact if good footwork is not being used. The foundation of strength/power/impact is built from the solid footwork/stance. Taking this one step further, without the spirit or commitment the whole scenario becomes invalid anyway. Anyway, I think I whaffling… guess this is a long winded way of saying feet are cool :)

  • DragonFlyer replied

Thanks Matt – sometimes a lot can be conveyed by ‘waffling’... so – feet are cool – and – they really are a pretty ‘solid’ symbol for a sense of ‘grounding’...
