Absolutely wonderful work, K – I came upon it just now whilst moderating the MD&E group and just had to open it large to have a closer look, only to realise it’s yours!! ( I haven’t had time to track new work on my watchlist for a couple of days, but I WILL get there!) I think it is absolutely sublime, my clever friend.
Out of the two, is the only difference heavier vignetting? I’m a fan of a good vignette… lol! If that is the case, I like version II, but they are both phenomenal.

  • DragonFlyer replied

Thank you so much Colleen! What a lovely response!!! The only difference is the ‘sort-of vignette’ – which is actually heavier ‘burning’ with a dark red colour… I am unsure about ‘subtle’ vs ‘stronger’ for this image… it’s funny too – I’ve been splitting the comments and faves almost evenly between the 2 posts so far… Sounds like the group hosting is keeping you busy! But not too busy to turn out some sensational new images of your own :)))

Silly me! I had a quick look initially to see if the version II was also loaded, but couldn’t see it. But I’ve just looked further and found it. On closer inspection, I actually do like this one more (though I love them both). I think this one maybe retains a tad more innocence without the heavier edge. Have you tried linking both of the versions above – it probably makes sense to do that if you’re asking for opinions. If you want to link them, all you have to do after you’ve typed/copied/pasted in your !s and your URL, straight after that (i.e. no spaces) type : then copy & paste the URL address from the browser at the top of the page your image is on in your gallery. If you get stuck (if, indeed, you want to try), give me a yell :)))

  • DragonFlyer replied

Ok Colleen – this time YOU lost ME just about after you wrote ‘Silly me!’... I’ll try to follow through what you wrote word by word after I’ve had a coffee and the kids are organised (though it’s not going good as 1 is sick and the other trying to make out she is :( )

very sweet image. love the reflection of the gate in the puddle and the absence of the gate elsewhere! also very nice how the “ground” texture curves up behind the little figure and becomes sky. very clever image!

  • DragonFlyer replied

Thank you J! Yes, I though that having the gate in the reflection only would give a more interesting image – just an ‘impression’ of being ‘fenced in(?)’... or something like that :)))

you are so clever dear Kallena! wow amazing my friend….I think I might prefer this one as it is softer but then the other one I think the reflecion is much more prominent and therefore stronger but this one might hold more childhood innocence….in other words they are both wonderful!! if you ever have time I would love you to teach me how to do all of this! all I know is how to take pictures non of this wonderful art effects which I think is so amazing as you are xxx

  • DragonFlyer replied

Thank you – I suppose what you write is a bit why I wasn’t sure which one was ‘best’... I’d love to show you how to do this… I had no idea when I started on RB 3 1/2 months ago either, but learnt by fiddling with the PS commands and seeing what happened, and by looking through the work in the Photoshop and digital editing groups as lots of people add in how they made the image there :)))

    Beautiful image!! Very atmospheric…
I prefer this version (of the 2?) – I like the subtlety of the tones. This works prefectly with your strong composition, the eye goes to the child, then to the puddle, then back up…
    Lovely!

  • DragonFlyer replied

Thank you very much! Yes – I was drawn to the subtlety of this one… :)))

Very sweet. Since you asked, I much prefer this one to what looks like a darker, more vivid red vignette to the right. Resembles blood too directly – for me, and I prefer this subtler red vignette. I like the hint of stories behind the image. The double or triple entendre in the title adds to the stories, too.

  • DragonFlyer replied

Thank you for your comment Jan! By now I have to say that I agree with you too… that subtle is better – particularly for this image. I figured you at least would pick up on the ‘double or triple’ meaning in the title… Thanks again Jan :)))
