She (??) is beautiful. Wonderful colouring. Always wanted a snake but my mum would not visit. She was bitten by a brown snake when I was a toddler, hence her fear of them.

  • DragonFlyer replied

Hi Leanne! Yes, she is a she and her colouring, especially just after a shed, is sensational. I’m so sorry your mum is really scared of snakes – understandable though. Not that I want you to encourage you to something you shouldn’t but little hatchlings are really about the size of a shoelace and very difficult to be frightened of…

  • DragonFlyer replied

I just wanted to add – this is you Leanne isn’t it? You’ve changed your image and profile I think – I almost didn’t recognise you…

  • Clare Colins

    Clare Colins

Wow! what amazing colour..it looks like it is made of metal :))

  • DragonFlyer replied

The best part is that the colour is really just like that – just after a shed when she’s showing her new fresh skin…

  • Dharna

    Dharna

Yes it is. Thought I need a change. Part of a “collage”: http://www.redbubble.com/people/dharna/art/2535505-2-my-year-2008 I did.

    Brilliant composition, great work!

  • DragonFlyer replied

Thank you so much! Though a big part of the praise is due the model – who got totally sick of having a camera poked in her face :)))

  • DragonFlyer replied

thanks! Though catching a pose like this from a snake is a lot of ‘being in the right place at the right time :)))

  • Jennifer Ferry

    Jennifer Ferry

well, you did just that…you captured the incredible beauty and elegance of the metallic rainbow iridescence here!

  • DragonFlyer replied

  • DragonFlyer replied

WOW!!! Thank you very very much! Though really… it’s the wonderful snake’s talent for posing that made this such a lovely, spherically curved image… I was just ‘there at the right time’ :)))

I see you share my affection for serpents. Pretty, pretty :)

  • DragonFlyer replied

Mmmmm… you love them too? That’s sensational – we have 3 pythons at home… I looove to work on my computer with the largest coiled around the base… she occasionally moves and has a look at me around the edge of the screen…

  • Selkie

    Selkie

That is the coolest thing i’ve heard in a very long time :).
If i had a fan like that peering at me as i work, i’d be ecstatic!

  • DragonFlyer replied

LOL :))) It’s just tough at the moment – winter here – so it’s a bit chilly for her to be out in the room for any length of time… :(

  • Selkie

    Selkie

She could sleep in my bed! lol…

  • DragonFlyer replied

Eeeerrrr…. got to admit I’ve had that happen…..

  • Tama Blough

    Tama Blough

Gorgeous snake! Looks like one of those heavy mesh silver necklaces.

  • DragonFlyer replied

Yes – she is like that Tama… though this shot was taken last year – she was probably about 75cm long then… grown up a bit now, slightly more heavier bodied, stronger and over 1m long…. but still wonderfully beautiful and very tame (unless your fingers smell of rat which makes them FOOD!!!) :)))

  • Lumase

    Lumase

    Enchanting creature.

  • DragonFlyer replied

Thank you – credit for the pose goes to the beautiful model, but I take credit for being there with a camera at the right moment… :)))

  • DragonFlyer replied

O – by the way, this enchanting creature just shed her skin again last night and she is pretty well 1 1/2m long now… :)))

    definitally comp

  • DragonFlyer replied

So this one too…. Just 3rd to decide…

  • DragonFlyer replied

btw – are you suggesting this because it’s ‘clear & nice dof’, a 1 off pose from a snake, flash colouring, or any or all of the above?

  • terugvanver

    terugvanver

colours are stunning, composition is spot on. Dont like the background too much and maybe you can burn it a bot

  • DragonFlyer replied

I agree with you about the background – certainly can do some burning

  • hugh023

    hugh023

    Fantastic iridescence!! . . .

  • DragonFlyer replied

Thanks Hugh – in the weeks after a shed that’s exactly how she looks :)))
