SONNET 9: BEYOND
I found myself questioning to point of staying here. It was around the time of Heath Ledger’s death. I’d like to think this may have been a thought we shared. I’m ok now.
If I leave without saying a good bye,
Do not think it’s because I didn’t care.
I thank you for all you’ve done— Now I’ll try…
To save, or at least delay, your despair.
If I leave without saying a good bye,
Do not think that it’s any fault of yours.
Shed not one tear for me— Please don’t cry.
You’ve helped me—I’m just a futile cause.
If I leave without saying a good bye,
Do not blame me for what I have done.
For what is the point of just getting by,
If living no longer is any fun.
The plot is lost; it’s too late to spoil,
And put the pills back in their tin foil.
