The Pennsylvania legislature approved funding for the Eastern State Penitentiary in 1821. John Haviland, from England but settled in Philadelphia, designed the Penitentiary. It was opened officially in 1829.
An HDR (3 exposures, tripod, processed in Photomatix Pro) taken with a 10.5mm f2.8 Nikon fisheye lens.

super, im a fan of the deralict buildings :) this shot has great perspective and depth
Thank you for your comments! I, too, look for old beat up things — it is easy to imagine the stories connected to the object. I always view the work of anyone who makes a comment on my things. You are doing a super job! I envy you your youth — I am almost 75 — I always imagine what the technology will be years from now. So much fun for photographers. The basic “law” is still there however — you still have to take a photo with good composition and impact!
I viewed your work and you have fabulous imagination — that is needed for a good photograph that captures the attention of the viewer. Thanks for your comments.
Diane, this is gorgeous. I love these tones. I SO want to go there someday!
It is a great place to spend the day. There is a nice restaurant across the street. They let you come and go all day if you want. If you go online you can see their schedule (Eastern State Penitentiary). You can include tripods although there is a charge. The admission gives you an audio tour also. At certain times of the year (like Halloween) they have special events. Great fun!
