100% crop. Best I could do – got one chance to get a shot of this beauty and that was it. Very nervous, hard to get a shot of, especially since there was a medium breeze blowing the branch around ;-)
I’ve only seen this twice up here in the past 2 weeks, and once down in Sydney over a year and a half ago. All times it was very flighty and nervous and only hung around for one shot on both occasions when I had a camera. It is a native of Australia, so I’m not sure if other countries have similar looking species or not. It’s certainly not common. I’m still yearning to get shots of the blue banded bee and teddy bear bee, one day!

This is a fine example of what a macro should be! When I can count the hairs on the insect’s mandibles, its a wonderfully clear shot!
Thanks Emma :-) You should see one of the shots I took of a female Wolf spider ;-)

Thanks! I do take the odd decent shot ;-)

Thanks Claire :-) We have some pretty cool looking native drone flies and Bees in Aussie land. I presume you get them in Canada?
