Mark IIn + Sigma 150mm. My mother spotted this beauty for me, largest Wolf spider that I’ve currently seen. This is a 100% crop from the original image.
Thanks everyone! I was around 17cm from this Wolfie when taking this shot. I wasn’t quite game enough to grab my 50mm/tubes combo – which has a working distance of around 4cm. Said Wolf spider was probably 5cm in diameter.
Wow that is briliant! You can really see all the details very well and your DOF is perfect for the eyes. I wonder if it was looking at you and wondering what you were doing.
Thank you!!! I was ecstatic to get a shot of this Wolf spider – despite seeing a few here and there, they’ve all been smallish, less than 10mm, and have never hung around for me to get a shot of them. This one just stood still, and voila! For those that don’t know, Wolf spiders can see a complete 360 degrees, in real time. Amazing isn’t it?

Probably – spiders are typically curious from my experiences dealing with them.
I saw the photo’s title and yet still opened it to view large. It’s a magnificent shot….but now I feel all creepy
Woo good grief amazing
Fantastic Macro!
I love the clarity of the eyes.
The perspective gives me the feeling that I am smaller than him.
Well done indeed!
