Chirping chickadees, strutting, cooing doves
Humming hummingbirds flying high above
Blue birds, cardinals, red tangiers, too
Fill my life with happiness and sweet peace
Though noisy little chirpers they may be.

Fill the feeders quickly, here they all come
Swarming, patchwork of starving little ones
Finches, cowbirds, and tiny bunting blues
Sweetly singing their praises to our God
While eating seed scattered upon the sod.

Watch out! Kitty is looking for a meal
Fly away quickly little bird of teal
I know this kitty, for she is my own
She has come to eat, my small, naughty beast,
Unsuspecting birds that come here to feast

God promises us life forever more
No more sickness, pain, or ailments galore
Cats, birds, lions and lambs peacefully graze
Resting together, in God’s green meadows
And I, lying with them, so very close.
